Army Officer Dies in Shootout with Robbers in Cox’s Bazar

During a weapons recovery operation in Chakaria, Cox’s Bazar, army officer Tanzim Sarwar Nirjhon was fatally shot by robbers.

The incident took place at 3:30 AM on Monday (September 23) in the Maizpara area of Dulahazara Union.

Reports indicate that Lieutenant Tanzim Sarwar Nirjhon (BA-11453) of the army was severely injured by gunfire from robbers that night. He passed away early Tuesday (September 24) while being transported to a hospital in Cox’s Bazar.

Chakaria Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Manjur Kader Bhuiyan confirmed the incident.

He stated, “On Monday night, an army team conducted a weapons recovery operation in Maizpara village of Dulahazara. At 3:30 AM, they encountered armed robbers and attempted to apprehend them quickly. During the struggle, Lieutenant Tanzim was shot by the robbers and critically injured. He died on the way to Cox’s Bazar.”

He added, “In this operation, three members of the robber gang, including Ziabool and Belal, were arrested. The body of the deceased army officer has been kept at the Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital morgue.”
