A Chinese medical team arrived in Dhaka on Sunday, September 22, to provide advanced medical care to students who were severely injured during the student-led uprising. They were welcomed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport by Chinese Ambassador Yao Wen and Professor Dr. Sheikh Saidul Haque, the Additional Director General of the Directorate General of Health Services (Planning and Development).
According to the Chinese Embassy, this emergency medical team was dispatched at the request of Interim Government Chief Adviser Dr. Muhammad Yunus.
Ambassador Yao Wen noted that numerous civilians were affected during the recent unrest in Bangladesh. As part of the close strategic partnership between the two nations, the Chinese government expressed condolences to the victims.
He also conveyed sympathies to the families of those who lost their lives and emphasized the Chinese people’s solidarity with the suffering of the Bangladeshi population. The decision to send the emergency medical team came following an invitation from Dr. Yunus.
