Former Rajshahi-4 MP Md Enamul Haque was allegedly assaulted by inmates at Rajshahi Central Jail. After the incident, he was taken to Rajshahi Medical Hospital around 7:30 PM on Wednesday, September 25, for treatment.
Dr. Jahedul Islam, the duty doctor at RMCH, reported that Haque had a forehead injury. He received first aid at the hospital and was then returned to jail. It was reported that other inmates had assaulted him.
DIG Prison Kamal Hossain mentioned that Haque was taken to the hospital due to illness, but he was unsure if Haque had been beaten and said the matter needed investigation.
Haque was arrested on September 16 for allegedly inciting violence during the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement’s protest on August 5. As a Bangladesh Awami League candidate, he served as the MP for Rajshahi-4 for three consecutive terms (2008, 2014, and 2018).
