Mohammad Salahuddin, former Secretary of the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), has stepped down from his role as a non-executive director of British American Tobacco (BAT) Bangladesh. His resignation was accepted by the company’s board during a meeting held on 25 September.
Salahuddin had joined BAT Bangladesh in January 2023, following his tenure as Secretary of the PMO under then Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, beginning in December 2022. Before that, he served as the Director General of the PMO, playing a crucial role in administrative operations.
To fill the vacancy left by Salahuddin, BAT Bangladesh has appointed its current head of commercial, Numayer Alam, as the new non-executive director. Alam’s appointment will officially take effect from 1 October.
This leadership change highlights BAT Bangladesh’s commitment to strengthening its corporate governance by promoting talent from within. As the company continues to evolve, Alam’s appointment is seen as a strategic move to drive commercial growth and navigate regulatory challenges in Bangladesh’s dynamic tobacco industry.
