Govt Asks 5 Envoys to Return Home

The government has ordered five diplomats from New Delhi, Brussels, Canberra, Lisbon, and the UN Mission in New York to return to Dhaka right away.

In separate notices, the foreign ministry told the envoys to leave their positions and report to the headquarters in Dhaka immediately.

“You are asked to return to Dhaka and hand over your duties immediately,” the ministry said in the notices.

The diplomats are Mustafizur Rahman (India), Muhammad Abdul Muhith (UN in New York), Mahbub Hassan Saleh (Belgium), M Allama Siddiqui (Australia), and Rezina Ahmed (Portugal).

This follows the recent recall of Saida Muna Tasneem, the High Commissioner to the UK, who was also ordered to return to Dhaka.
