ISPR Confirms Arrest of Six Suspects in Lt. Tanzim Sarwar Nirjan Case

Six individuals have been arrested in connection with the murder of Army officer Tanzim Sarwar Nirjan (23) in Chakaria, Cox’s Bazar. The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) confirmed this in a statement on Wednesday, September 25.

The arrested individuals are Md. Babul Prakash (44), Md. Helal Uddin (34), Md. Anwar Hakim (28), Md. Arif Ullah (25), Md. Ziabur Karim (45), and Md. Hossain (39). According to the ISPR, Tanzim was killed during an anti-robbery operation based on intelligence information on Tuesday night. Following the incident, a combing operation led to the arrest of the six suspects.

Authorities recovered two homemade firearms, 11 rounds of ammunition, a knife used in the murder, a pickup truck, and a motorcycle from the suspects. Preliminary investigations revealed that Md. Babul Prakash financed the operation and personally stabbed Tanzim. The other suspects were either directly involved in the crime or provided crucial information.

The six detainees have been handed over to Chakaria police, and a case is being filed by the army. The military continues its efforts to apprehend other members involved in the robbery gang.
