Iran launched ballistic missiles at Israel in retaliation for Israel’s actions against Hezbollah in Lebanon.
Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu vowed that Iran would pay for the attack, while Iran warned of “vast destruction” if Israel responded, raising fears of a broader conflict.
Israel reported that over 180 missiles were fired, with air defenses intercepting some.
Iran’s Revolutionary Guard said the strike was in response to Israel’s actions in Lebanon and Gaza, including the killing of Hezbollah’s leader, Hassan Nasrallah. They claimed 90% of the missiles hit their targets.
No injuries were reported in Israel, though one person was killed in the occupied West Bank. Iran stated the operation targeted only military and security sites.
The U.S. and European Union condemned the attack, while President Biden reaffirmed U.S. support for Israel, calling Iran’s strike “ineffective.” Iran warned that intervention by Israel’s allies would result in retaliation against their regional bases.
