The Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit (BFIU) has instructed banks to freeze the accounts of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s son, Sajib Wazed Joy, her daughter, Saima Wazed Hossain Putul, and her nephew, Radwan Mujib Siddiq Bobby.
They also ordered the freezing of accounts belonging to the Awami League’s research group, the Center for Research and Information (CRI), its Young Bangla project, and former state minister for power, Nasrul Hamid.
The BFIU sent letters to banks about this on September 30, according to documents from The Business Standard.
All the individuals mentioned are connected to the CRI. Joy is the chairman, his sister Putul is the vice-chairman, and Bobby is a member of its trust. Nasrul Hamid is also on the board of trustees. CRI gained attention in 2010 for its role in promoting the party’s plans and shaping public opinion.
