Legal Action Against Mashrafe Over Hostile Takeover of BPL Franchise Shares

Mashrafe Bin Mortaza, the famous cricketer and politician, has been accused of forcibly taking over shares in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) franchise, Sylhet Strikers. The complaint was filed by Sarowar Golam Chowdhury, an expatriate living in the United States, at Pallabi Police Station in Dhaka on Monday.

Nazrul Islam, the officer-in-charge of the police station, confirmed that a case was filed against Mashrafe and six others. Out of the seven accused, five are named, including Helal bin Yusuf (also known as Shubo), Imam Hasan, KM Russell, and Bablu. Two others remain unidentified.

In the case, Chowdhury has accused Mashrafe of forcefully taking control of his BPL shares. The police stated that they will investigate the matter and take necessary action if the complaint is proven true.

This case has gained attention due to Mashrafe’s prominent role in both cricket and politics.
