Interim Government Information Adviser Nahid Hasan emphasized that efforts to divide the Pahari and Bengali communities will not be allowed to succeed. “Many groups try to exploit tensions by fostering division and conflict, but we will not give them that opportunity. Our message is clear: the hills and the plains together make Bangladesh,” he stated.
Speaking at Larma Square in Dighinala, Khagrachari, on Saturday evening (September 21), Hasan addressed locals, assuring them that those impacted by the recent violence in the hill regions would receive support.
He also vowed accountability for those responsible for the unrest. “We will ensure justice for the arson and murders. Those involved will face the consequences. We urge everyone not to take the law into their own hands,” he added.
Nahid said, “I’ve come from Feni to assess the situation firsthand. Unrest anywhere in Bangladesh affects us all, so unity is crucial. We are working toward a new vision of Bangladesh where everyone’s rights are protected, and discrimination is eliminated.”
