Saudi Arabia has announced the formation of a global coalition to establish an independent Palestinian state and implement a two-state solution.
On Thursday, September 26, Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan made this declaration, according to Anadolu Agency, which referenced the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).
During a speech at the United Nations General Assembly in New York, Prince Faisal stated, “On behalf of Arab and Islamic countries, we have initiated the formation of a global coalition in collaboration with European partners to implement a two-state solution.
This coalition is founded on the conviction that a lasting resolution to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict can only be achieved through the establishment of an independent Palestinian state.”
Prince Faisal emphasized, “Our aim is to establish a coalition to implement a two-state solution, which requires essential measures, including strengthening the capabilities of the Palestinian Authority.”
As part of this initiative, Saudi Arabia and its allies will hold high-level meetings in Riyadh, Brussels (the headquarters of the European Union), Cairo, Oslo, Amman, and Ankara.
The Saudi Press Agency (SPA) also reported that Faisal condemned the “catastrophic humanitarian crisis” caused by the Gaza conflict and Israeli military actions in the West Bank.
He further stated, “I cannot comprehend how continuing the war can be the only option. We need to explore other alternatives, and I, therefore, reiterate our call for a ceasefire and the pursuit of diplomatic solutions.”
