Popular Bangladeshi actor Shakib Khan has officially announced the name of his cricket team for the upcoming 11th edition of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL). Following in the footsteps of Bollywood stars like Shah Rukh Khan and Preity Zinta, who have owned IPL teams, Shakib Khan has bought the Dhaka franchise in BPL. His cosmetics and home care company, Remark-Harlan, will sponsor the team named “Dhaka Capitals.”
At an event held at the Remark-Harlan head office in Gulshan on October 2, 2024, Shakib Khan unveiled the team’s logo and expressed his excitement. He shared that fans and cricket enthusiasts from around the world had suggested names, and based on their feedback, “Dhaka Capitals” was finalized.
Shakib Khan stated, “I am overwhelmed by the love and responses from both my fans and cricket lovers in helping us select the team’s name. With everyone’s support and love, I am confident that Dhaka Capitals will achieve the success we all desire.”
The event was attended by notable figures, including Executive Director Mamnun Hasan Emon and CEO of Dhaka Capitals, Atique Fahad.
