Yunus, ICC to File Case for July-August Massacre Crimes

The Chief Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court (ICC), Karim A.A. Khan, met with Chief Adviser Prof. Muhammad Yunus to discuss their shared commitment to enhancing Bangladesh-ICC collaboration and ensuring accountability for crimes committed against the Rohingya population.

The meeting took place yesterday (September 26) on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).

According to the Chief Adviser’s Office, their discussions covered the Rohingya genocide and potential avenues to initiate a case for crimes against humanity related to the July-August atrocities. Khan also commended Prof. Yunus for his three-point proposal on the Rohingya issue.

In addition, Prof. Yunus met with Dutch Prime Minister Dick Schoof to seek support from the Netherlands in areas such as agricultural transformation, water management, anti-corruption efforts, and reform implementation.

He also had a separate meeting with U.S. Senate Majority Leader Dick Durbin.
